It is justifiably known for the grunge sound of the 90's and bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, but in the last decade there have been a number of significant breakout indie artists from Seattle including Death Cab for Cutie, the Shins, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses and, recently, Head and the Heart.
